FAITH AND THOSE AROUND YOU

Ø      THE ATMOSPHERE OF FAITH:

§         FAITH IS NOT CONFINED TO THEINDIVIDUAL, BUT IS SEEN IN THE HOUSEHOLD AFFECTING ALL WHO LIVE THERE.

·        THE ATMOSPHERE OF FAITH IN THE HOMECONSISTS OF BEING SEPARATE FROM THE WORLD AND SET APART UNTO GOD.

¨      CHILDREN ARE TAUGHT THAT AS FOLLOWERSOF GOD WE      LIVEDIFFERENTLY THAN OTHER PEOPLE. THE PARENT’S LIFE IS TO DEMONSTRATE AND MODEL THATSEPARATION.

§         FAITH FOR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN:

·        YOU CAN’T GIVE YOUR CHILDREN FAITH, BUTYOU CAN GIVE THEM            A MODEL OF THE FAITH LIFE.

¨      THE MAN OF STRONG FAITH IS A BLESSINGTO HIS CHILDREN AND PASSES ON A WAY OF LIFE TO THEM.

Ø      ENOCH BLESSED HIS SON WITH GOD’SMESSAGE.

Ø      NOAH BLESSED HIS CHILDREN WITH PHYSICALSALVATION FROM THE FLOOD.

Ø      ABRAHAM BLESSED ISAAC AND ISAAC’SCHILDREN WITH THE PROMISE OF A COVENANT RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD. (GEN 17:19 HEB 11:20)

§         THE FAITH OF ISAAC:

·        FOR WHAT DID HE HAVE FAITH? (GEN27:28-29)

¨      HE HAD FAITH FOR THE TRANSMISSION OFTHE BLESSING OF THE COVENANT RELATIONSHIP THAT GOD GAVE TO ABRAHAM. BY FAITH IT  WOULD BE PASSED ON TO HIS CHILDREN.

Ø      GOD WOULD BLESS HIS SON WITH HEAVENLYFAVOR.

Ø      GOD WOULD BLESS HIS SON WITHPROSPERITY.

Ø      GOD WOULD BLESS HIS SON WITH TRIBALLEADERSHIP.

Ø      HIS SON WOULD BE A FOUNTAIN OF BLESSINGTO THOSE WHO BLESSED HIM AND A CURSE TO THOSE WHO CURSED HIM.

§         THE FAITH OF JACOB:

·        FOR WHAT DID HE HAVE FAITH? (GEN47:29-30 GEN 48:3-6)

¨      HE HAD FAITH TO BELIEVE THAT THEISRAELITES WOULD ONE DAY RETURN TO THE PROMISE LAND FROM EGYPT.

Ø      HE HAD FAITH TO BELIEVE THAT HE WOULDBE BURIED IN THE PROMISE LAND.

Ø      HE HAD FAITH TO BELIEVE THAT THECOVENANT RELATIONSHIP WITH ITS PROMISES WAS PASSED DOWN TO HIM, AND THAT IT  WOULD BE PASSED TO HIS CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN:

§         -MANY DESCENDANTS (FRUITFUL ANDMULTIPLY).

§         -THE PROMISE LAND WOULD BE THEIRSFOREVER.

§         THE FAITH OF JOSEPH:

·        FOR WHAT DID HE HAVE FAITH? (GEN50:22-26)

¨      HE HAD FAITH TO BELIEVE HIS CHILDRENWOULD HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.

¨      HE HAD FAITH TO BELIEVE THAT THEISRAELITES WOULD ONE DAY BE FREED FROM BONDAGE IN EGYPT.

¨      HE HAD FAITH TO BELIEVE THAT HE WOULDBE BURIED IN THE PROMISE LAND.

v     READ HEB 11:23-29

Ø      FAITH IS THE INSPIRATION OF HOW YOUTREAT YOUR CHILDREN.

§         IT IS RECOGNITION THAT GOD ISSOVEREIGN.

§         IT IS A RECOGNITION THAT CHILDREN ARELENT TO PARENTS ONLY FOR A PERIOD OF TIME.

§         IT IS RECOGNITION THAT YOU AREANSWERABLE TO GOD FOR THE PROVISION AND PROTECTION OF YOUR CHILDREN.

Ø      THE FAITH OF MOSES’ PARENTS:

§         FOR WHAT DID THEY HAVE FAITH? (EXO2:2-3)      

·        THEY TRUSTED GOD FOR THE WELL-BEING OFTHEIR SON.

·        THEY BELIEVED THAT GOD WOULD SAVE THEIRSON FROM THE WRATH OF PHARAOH.

·        THEY MAY HAVE BELIEVED THAT THEIR SONWOULD BE A LEADER AND DELIVERER OF HIS PEOPLE:

¨      THE JEWISH HISTORIAN, JOSEPHUS, SAYSTHAT AN ANGEL TOLD MOSES’ PARENTS THAT MOSES WOULD DELIVER HIS PEOPLE.

§         WHAT ACTION WAS INVOLVED IN THEIRFAITH?

·        HIS MOTHER BUILT A BASKET OF REEDS ANDPLACED HER SON IN IT.

·        SHE HAD FAITH TO SEND MOSES’ SISTER TOREQUEST THAT MOSES COULD BE RAISED BY HIS OWN MOTHER.

Ø      FAITH IS ALWAYS A CHOICE THAT YOU MAKE.

§         YOU CHOOSE GOD OR THE WORLD. YOU CHOOSETO WALK BY FAITH OR BY SIGHT. THE STORY OF MOSES IS THE EXAMPLE.

§         THE FAITH OF MOSES:

·        FOR WHAT THINGS DID MOSES HAVE FAITH?

¨      HE HAD FAITH IN GOD TO IDENTIFY HIMSELFWITH THE PEOPLE OF GOD RATHER THAN THE PEOPLE OF EGYPT.

Ø      (EXO 2:11-15)

§         THE CHOICE OF AN HUMBLE LIFE INSTEAD OFTHE RICHES AND POSITION OF POWER IN EGYPT. (HEB 11:25)

¨      HE HAD FAITH TO BELIEVE THAT THECOVENANT GIVEN TO ABRAHAM WAS PASSED ON TO HIM.

Ø      (EXO 6:2-8)

§         THE CHOICE OF A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPWITH GOD.

¨      HE HAD FAITH TO BECOME A LEADER OF HISPEOPLE.

Ø      (EXO 6:13)

§         THE CHOICE TO LEAD A REBELLIOUS ANDCOMPLAINING PEOPLE WHO DIDN’T WANT HIM TO BE THEIR LEADER.

¨      HE HAD FAITH TO CONFRONT PHARAOH.

Ø      (EXO 7:2-3) (HEB 11:27)

§         IT WAS A CHOICE TO SUBMIT TO DANGER.

¨      HE HAD FAITH IN THE BLOOD OF THEPASSOVER LAMB THAT COVERED HIS SINS UNTIL CHRIST CAME.

Ø      (EXO 12:21-28) (HEB 11:28)

§         THE CHOICE TO OBEY AND TRUST GOD FORSAFETY FROM DEATH.

¨      HE HAD FAITH TO TRUST GOD AS THEYCROSSED THE RED SEA 

Ø      (EXO 14:13-22)

§         THE CHOICE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY TOLEAD THE PEOPLE INTO THE SEA.

¨      HE HAD FAITH THAT HIS LIFE OF FAITHWOULD RESULT IN AN ETERNAL REWARD.

Ø      (HEB 11:26)

§         NOTICE THE MENTION OF CHRIST IN VERSE26. MOSES DID NOT KNOW THE NAME OF CHRIST, BUT HE BELIEVED IN THE PROMISED REDEEMER WHOWAS TO COME.

·        WHAT ACTIONS WERE INVOLVED IN HISFAITH?

¨      STEP BY STEP, MOSES’ ACTIONS WEREOBEDIENT CHOICES       TOFOLLOW GOD IN EACH SITUATION EVEN THOUGH IT MEANT PERSONAL DANGER.

v     MOSES’ LIFE IS A PICTURE OF THE FAITHLIFE OF THE BELIEVER.

Ø      THE FIRST STEP OF THE CHRISTIAN LIFEIS THE DECISION TO DEPART FROM THE WORLD OF SIN AND SEPARATE ONESELF UNTO GOD.

Ø      GOD’S PROVISION OF THE SHED BLOOD OFCHRIST COVERS AND PROTECTS THE BELIEVER FROM SPIRITUAL DEATH.

Ø      PASSING FROM DEATH UNTO LIFE, THEBELIEVER ENTERS A NEW LIFE OF FAITH.

§         THE COMING OUT OF EGYPT REPRESENTSSEPARATING ONESELF FROM THE WORLD.

§         CROSSING THE RED SEA REPRESENTS BEINGBORN AGAIN.
