1. What commands are given in verses 19-27 as a preparation for the truth?
Swift to hear
Slow to speak
Slow to wrath
2. How do you receive the engrafted word according to verse 22?
By doing it (obedience), it becomes part of your life, writtenon your heart.
3. Can you thinik of any specific time in your life when you were a hearer of the Wordonly and not a doer like the man in verses 23 and 24? When?
Yes, many times over, the Lord has impressed upon me theimportance of obedience in certain areas of my life but I do not always do itconsistently.
4. What is the perfect law of liberty (25)
Love. Because of the perfect love of God for me, I am freefrom bondages and can, therefore, love others.
5. What promise is given to those who walk in the perfect law of liberty doing theWord?
His deeds shall be blessed by God.
6. What is the test of whether one is a hearer only or a doer (26-27)?
By what comes out of his mouth.
By the good deeds he does.
By the kind of life he lives.
Application:
What word has the Lord given you this week that needs doing?
To meditate more on the Word daily.
How do you plan to be a doer of the Word this week?
In my daily devotions, I plan to stop and think aboutapplications to my life and seek deeper meanings to the Word.
How does the test in question #6 above apply to my plan of action?
As I meditate more on the Word, the Lord will be able to getthrough to me in regards to what I say, what good deeds I do, and in purging my life ofthings not pleasing to Him.
