- Read Jam 1:17
- If every good gift and perfect gift comes from God, how do we explain this evil spirit from God?
- The “good gift” refers to the act of giving.
- The “perfect gift” refers to the gift itself.
- God knows what to give, to whom to give it, and when is the best time for the ultimate good to come about.
- God allowed the evil spirit to come upon Saul in order to cause Sauls reign to come to an end.
- God gave him over to his own lusts.
- This was an evil spirit used by God to bring trial and testing to David through Saul for the purposes of maturing David.
- How can the believer tell a message from God as opposed to one from Satan?
- The criteria for judging any prophecy from God:
- =1= By their fruits you shall know them. (Mat 7:16-20)
- Is there an anointing on the message? (1Joh 2:20)
- =2= Does it glorify Christ? (Rev 19:10 1Cor 12:3 1Joh 4:1-2 Joh 16:13-14)
- =3= Does it agree with scripture? (2Tim 3:16 1Sam 8:19-20)

- Some fulfilled prophecies are not of God. (Deu 13:1-3 1Sam 18:10)
- =5= Does the message produce liberty or bondage? (2Cor 4:13 Rom 8:15)
- =6= Does the Holy Spirit bears witness to you? (1Joh 2:20)
- =7= Is there a consistency and a confirmation? (Deu 18:20-21 2Cor 13:1 Act 13:2)
- Was Saul guilty or would we excuse him by reason of insanity?
- Read 1Sam 18:12-16
- Other truths from this passage:

- This makes it necessary to test the prophetic word

- Wisdom and knowledge of Gods ways and obedience o them produces assurance, success, and prosperity.
- =2= Peace in fearful situations.
- Why was Saul afraid?
- It was because David behaved himself wisely (14-15)
- It was because the Lord was with David (12, 14)
- =3= Wisdom and knowledge of Gods ways.
- What are some of Gods ways?
- =1= Give and it shall be given to you.
- =2= Be a servant and God will raise you up.
- =3= Seek first Gods kingdom and He shall add everything else.
- =4= Meditate on the Word of God and He will give you success.
- =5= A righteous life produces righteousness.
- Read 1Sam 18:17-30
- Manipulation:
- Read 1Sam 17:25
- The reward for killing Goliath was marriage to Sauls oldest daughter, but Saul gave Merap to someone else.
