“Final Evaluation and Using Your Gift”

- The Evaluation for the Gift of Mercy
- Record both of the test scores for each student for the Gift of Mercy.

- Resolution of any conflict areas.
- The reasons for close scores:
- Some times a motivational gift is suppressed in childhood due to trauma or abuse.
- Some people have such a poor self-image that they have trouble understanding their underlying personality.
- Some people are highly influenced by their present job or activity that does not use their primary gift.
- Some people dislike their gift and try to be someone they are not.
- A resistant, rebellious person cancels out the purity of his gift.
- If all seven gifts are almost equal in score, the motivational gift is probably that of giving (contributing) for remember that this person is well-rounded and a jack of all trades.
- The reasons for close scores:
- Discussion and resolution.
- A Matter of Personal Perspective:
- The person with the gift of prophecy (insight) will say, “I perceive you have lost your glasses.
- The person with the gift of teaching will say, “Now lets analyze this, Where was the last time you saw them?”
- The person with the gift of exhortation (encouraging) will say, “Dont worry sister, you will find them.”
- The person with the gift of mercy will say, “Thats too bad. You must feel awfully lost without them.”
- The person with the gift of serving says, “Let me find them for you.”
- The person with the gift of giving (contributing) will say, “What can I do to help you in the meantime?”
- The person with the gift of ruling (facilitating) will say, “John, you look over there, Mary you look in that room.”
- Marriage and Compatibility:
- Often we marry someone that has a gift opposite ours. Generally women marry the gift of their father, and men marry the gift of their mother.
- The gifts in couples balance each others strengths and weaknesses.
- The differences in perspective are often the areas of conflict especially when one does not understand the others gift.
- Couples present a marvelous opportunity for joint ministry.
- Using Your Gift in Sunday School:
- There is an opportunity to use any of the 7 gifts in a Sunday school program.
- The Gift of Prophecy (Insight):
- The person with this gift will want to teach, especially older youth or adult classes.
- The Gift of Teaching:
- The person with this gift will be happy teaching adults or college-age classes, or preparing and providing enrichment material.
- The Gift of Exhortation (Encouraging):
- The person with this gift will be happy teaching any age group. He will be especially good with younger children and teenagers.
- The Gift of Serving:
- The person with this gift will prefer to assist a teacher or to help in the nursery.
- This person will also do a good job doing custodial work or being a Sunday school secretary.
- The Gift of Giving (Contributing):
- The person with this gift will do well teaching any age.
- This person will also be good handling Sunday school finances or to promote missionary support and offerings.
- The Gift of Ruling (Facilitating):
- The person with this gift will do an excellent job as a Sunday school superintendant.
- This person will also do well teaching an adult class or a workshop type of class.
- The Gift of Mercy:
- The person with this gift is adapted to teaching or helping in the primary age, the pre-school age, or the nursery age.
- Using Your Gift in Bible Study:
- All gifts are adaptable to Bible Study groups. However, the subject and approach will be different with each gift.
- The Gift of Prophecy (Insight):
- The person with this gift will spend a lot of time in prayerful preparation.
- He will use the Bible as the basic text.
- He will focus on subjects like prayer, prophecy, and Gods will.
- The Gift of Teaching:
- The person with this gift will prepare his own lesson plans.
- He will spend a lot of time in Bible Study preparation.
- He will prefer teaching an entire book of the Bible or a thematic topic.
- The Gift of Exhortation (Encouraging):
- The person with this gift will use teaching materials prepared by others.
- He will draw from life experience for class illustrations.
- He will choose subjects that help people live victoriously.
- The Gift of Serving:
- The person with this gift will prefer using already prepared teaching materials.
- He will do a detailed preparation of the lesson.
- He will focus on practical subjects that demonstrate faith.
- The Gift of Giving (Contributing):
- The person with this gift will enjoy doing his own preparation, but not as deeply as the person with the gift of teaching.
- He will tend to point each lesson to win someone to Christ.
- He will focus on subjects like evangelism and missions.
- The Gift of Ruling (Facilitating):
- The person with this gift will organize materials into his own lesson plan.
- He will bring in resource people for additional interest.
- He will cover broad subjects from a variety of aspects.
- The Gift of Mercy:
- The person with this gift will use already prepared teaching materials.
- He will be spontaneous in his teaching methods.
- He will focus on the living God and right relationships.
- Using Your Gift in Other Areas of Ministry:
- Prayer and Healing Ministry:
- Those people with the gifts of Prophecy (Insight), Giving (Contributing), or Mercy do well in this area of ministry.
- In intercessory prayer, prayer groups, prayer breakfasts, hospital visitation, praying by phone, prayer chains, fasting and prayer counseling.
- Practical Ministry in the Church:
- Those people with the gifts of Serving, Giving (Contributing), and Mercy adapt well to the following jobs:
- Office help, church secretary, church treasurer, mailing, preparing Holy Communion, childcare, bazaar crafts, tape ministry, baby and wedding showers, kitchen help, nursery work, telephoning, handling registrations, advertising, ushering, custodial work, repair work, bake sales, hospitality, work groups.
- Educational Ministry in the Church:
- Those people with the gifts of Teaching, Prophecy, or Ruling (Facilitating) will do well in the following areas:
- Bible teacher, workshop leader, youth ministry, retreat speaker, research, church library, seminar leader, adult classes, childrens ministry, discipling, Sunday School teacher, Bible School Instructor, tutoring, teaching new believers.
- Counseling Ministries:
- Those people with the gifts of Prophecy (Insight), Exhortation (Encouraging), and Mercy will do well in the following areas:
- Prayer counseling, marriage counseling, teen counseling, pregnancy counseling, home visitation, hospital visitation, problem solving, follow-up calls, crisis center, hotline help.
- Outreach Ministries:
- Those people with the gifts of Giving (Contributing), Prophecy (Insight), and Exhortation (Encouraging) will do well in the following areas:
- Child evangelism, drama teams, missions, crusades, TV or radio programs, outreach to college students, street witnessing, outreach center, coffeehouse outreach, mens breakfasts, womens luncheons, door-to-door witnessing, Vacation Bible School
- Leadership Ministries:
- Those people with the gifts of Ruling (Facilitating), Teaching, or Exhortation (Encouraging) are adapted to the following jobs:
- Organizer, emcee, Sunday school superintendant, planner, troubleshooter, home group leader, missions coordinator, leader, committee chairman, church administrator.
- Caring Ministries:
- Those people with the gifts of Mercy, Serving, or Giving (Contributing) will do well in the following areas of ministry:
- Hospitality, food bank, hospital visitation, food for shut-ins, driving service, baby sitting, dial a prayer, missions, street ministry, overnight guests, clothing bank, nursing home ministry, crisis center, hospice care, disabled ministry, abuse aid, womens shelter, entertaining, prison visitation, elder help, halfway house, help for unwed mothers.
- Creative Ministries:
- People with any of the seven gifts are adaptable to the following areas depending on talents and interest:
- Music groups, choir, playing instruments, drama, singing, translation work, designing art work, leading worship, bulletin boards, writing, songwriting, church decorations, church plays, costumes, banners, arts and crafts.
