  • The Doctrines of Repentance, Forgiveness, Redemption, Salvation, Regeneration, Justification, Sanctification, and Glorification Through Jesus Christ
    • Repentance
      • Repentance is required for the forgiveness of sin.
        • Read Mat 9:13
        • Read Luk 24:47
        • Read 2Cor 7:10
          • Repentance is not feeling sorry for having sinned.
          • Repentance is making a conscious determination to turn in the opposite direction away from sin and toward God.

    • Forgiveness
      • Because of man’s sinful nature, he is in need of forgiveness of sin through Jesus Christ.
        • Read Rom 3:23
        • Read 2Pet 3:9
        • Read Act 5:31
        • Read Col 1:14
          • Man cannot save himself through his own good works because his works are not good enough to satisfy a supremely Holy God.
          • Therefore, in humility he must repent of his sins before God and accept God’s forgiveness by faith.

    • Redemption
      • The word redemption means: to buy with a price in order to bring freedom to the slave.
        • Read 1Cor 6:20
        • Read Gal 3:13
        • Read Joh 8:36
        • Read Rom 7:14
          • The non-believer is a slave to sin and needs to be purchased out of the slave market to be set free from sin and spiritual death.
          • Christ’s redemption paid the price so that the believer need never sin again.
      • Because of man’s sinful nature, he is in need of redemption by the grace of Jesus Christ.

        • Read Eph 1:14
          • By grace, God provided redemption for man through the blood of Jesus Christ.
          • Christ paid the redemption price so that man need not be sold under sin ever again so as to satisfy the perfect justice of God.

      • Salvation
        • The Biblical word “salvation” means = saved body, soul, and spirit. Salvation covers rescue and protection from all enemies physical and spiritual. It therefore, includes everything of provision that man need in his life in the past, in the present, and in the future.

            • Christ’s salvation includes everything man could ever need in his life, nothing lacking.
            • Christ’s salvation is not limited to spiritual redemption from sin.
        • God’s way of salvation is through faith in the blood of Jesus Christ that saves us from spiritual death.

          • Read Eph 2:8-9
          • Read Joh 3:16-18
          • Read Rev 20:6
            • The personal acceptance of Jesus Christ as your own personal savior is the way to salvation
            • Your personal identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ makes Jesus the Savior and Lord of your life.
            • Jesus Christ redeems us, forgives us of sin, and saves us from the wages of sin which is spiritual death.
        • Salvation in Jesus Christ is a free gift of God obtained by faith in Jesus Christ.

            • Because of God’s love and mercy he offers salvation freely to the person that believes by faith in Jesus’ death of substitution on the cross.
            • Religious ritual or good works are not sufficient to obtain salvation.
        • Man gains eternal salvation through Jesus Christ by means of one’s personal identification with Christ and his personal confession of faith.

          • Read Col 2:12
            • Water baptism is man’s public testimony of his identification with Jesus Christ.
            • Through faith and the confession of faith, the reality of salvation becomes real to the believer.

        • Regeneration
          • By the Holy Spirit, the new believer is regenerated to new life.

            • Read Rom 6:4
            • Read Joh 3:3
              • The born again believer has a new life in Jesus Christ given by the Spirit of Life.
              • Leaving sin behind, the believer is to live his new life by walking free from the sins of the past.
          • God gives the indwelling Holy Spirit to regenerated believers in Jesus Christ to seal them for eternal life.

            • Read Eph 1:13
              • The Spirit comes to live inside of the believer when he is born again.
              • The seal of the Holy Spirit assures the believer of eternal salvation.

          • Justification
            • Justification means to declare righteous. We are justified before God through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.

              • Read Rom 3:24
                • The believer in Jesus Christ has peace with God because he receives the righteousness of Christ.
                • When God looks at the justified believer, He sees the righteousness of Christ instead of sinful man.

            • Sanctification
              • The word sanctification means = to set apart unto holiness. It is a process of maturity whereby man is made to be more like Christ gradually.

                  • The process of maturity is accomplished by the indwelling Holy Spirit.
                  • The Holy Spirit changes man from within by means of conviction of sin and the use of the Word of God.

              • Glorification
                • Man’s salvation is completed when he is finally with the Lord and receives a new spiritual body. This event is called the glorification of the body.

                    • The redemption of man is the redemption of the soul and the body.
                    • The soul is redeemed when man is born again. The body is redeemed at the Rapture of the church.
