The Victory of the First Church

“And Joseph placed his father and his brethren, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.” (Gen 47:11)

The book of Genesis tells us that a place was made for Joseph’s family in the best land under the authority of the Pharaoh.

The construction of the first church in the mountains under the authority of Pastor Waldo occurred during Holy Week in April of the year 2007 in the village of El Majahual.

“We have land there in El Majahual where we are going to build a church and a house. There is sufficient space to construct it. The dirt to make the adobe (something similar to bricks), has to be brought from a mountain that is somewhat far from there and belongs to a person that is not an Indian. The dirt is going to be brought on burros. Because of that to buy the dirt costs us some money. Waldo.” (December 28, 2006)

“The houses in El Majahual are equal to those of many of the Indians. They are made of adobe. Each adobe costs 5 pesos and we need a minimum of 1200 adobes, not counting the roof, the doors, and the windows. It is not possible to make the houses of another material due to the great distances. Possibly the roof will be constructed of pasteboard laminate or of straw with mud. Some houses are constructed of poles from trees lined with mud, but much cold and water enters them. It is better of adobe. Waldo.” (December 29, 2006)

“A group from the church is going to leave for El Majahual to help don Lupe make his house. I am going in the month of March to help cut trees for the roof and to take some laminate. Also we need to make a house and a church in La Ciénega, for it is the largest Huichol village. There are various villages around there that are already attending services. I ask that you please help me to pray for a full-time missionary for that place. La Ciénega is a place where your lessons are having much success. We already have a large piece of land that the Indians gave us for the construction of the church and a house for a missionary. Sandra tells me that she is available to go as a full-time missionary. It only remains for me to tell her when, and she will go. I am praying about that. Waldo.” (January 29, 2007)

“A group of people from the church accompany me (to construct the church and don Lupe’s house in El Majahual). Some are going to work on the construction of the church and others are going to go to visit all the villages where we have already arrived with the Word of God. Waldo.” (March 27, 2007)

“We leave today at 6 am. A total of 17 people are going. All will travel in the same boat. A good group from Jala already went last Monday. They are going on foot. Waldo.” (April 5, 2007)

“The church in El Majahual is already finished. Only it lacks the roof and the peak of the roof along one wall. It is not as big as I wanted but we can do some remodeling later to broaden it. Around 8 villages will be descending each week to hear the Word of God and to be edified in their faith. Waldo.” (April 9, 2007)
