- THE SERVANT, ISRAELS RESPONSIBILITIES BEFORE GOD:
- TO MAINTAIN THE TRUTH OF THE WORD OF GOD.
- TO MAINTAIN THE GENEALOGIC BLOODLINE TO THE MESSIAH.
- TO EXEMPLIFY THE BLESSINGS OF A FAITHFUL GOD.
- TO BE A LIGHT TO THE GENTILES.
- TO UNDERSTAND THIS CHAPTER, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO DECIDE WHO IS SPEAKING.
- WHO DO YOU THINK IS DOING THE SPEAKING IN THIS PASSAGE? (1)
- IT IS JESUS CHRIST THAT IS SPEAKING TO ISRAEL ABOUT HIS FATHER, GOD.

- REMEMBER THAT THE JEWS WERE THE FIRST SERVANT CALLED BY GOD TO FULFILL GODS PLAN. THEY FAILED TO BE A TOTALLY FAITHFUL SERVANT TO GOD, SO GOD SENT HIS SON TO FULFILL THE ROLE OF A SERVANT. HERE IS WHERE THE PARALLEL BETWEEN ISRAEL, THE SERVANT, AND JESUS, THE SERVANT IS CLEARLY SEEN.
- NOTICE THE DISCOURAGEMENT OF THE FIRST SERVANT, ISRAEL, IN VERSE 4. THAT WAS WHY GOD SENT HIS SON TO BE THE SECOND SERVANT (5-6).
- IN THEIR OWN STRENGTH, THE JEWS COULD NOT POSSIBLY FULFILL GODS EXPECTATIONS. THEY NEEDED SUPERNATURAL HELP IN THE FORM OF A REDEEMER (7).
- WE ALSO SEE A TIME OF DISCOURAGEMENT IN JESUS MINISTRY WHEN MANY DISCIPLES LEFT HIM.
